You may know Swansboro, NC as the setting of Nicholas Sparks’ romantic thriller The Guardian. For many visitors, Swansboro offers quieter thrills – a bite on a fishing line or a spectacular sunrise over the water. The Western Carteret Medical Center is proud to be a friendly neighbor to the Swansboro, NC community.
Swansboro is known for its picturesque beaches and stunning views of the ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway. Not surprising for a community with such a connection to the water, Swansboro offers boat tours and fishing excursions.
Renting or buying a home in Swansboro will cost a bit more than in some other NC locales, but it is hard to beat the location; it’s as close to the water you can get while still being on the mainland. Enjoy fresh seafood at the town’s Mullet Festival (the fish, not the hairstyle). Seafood restaurants abound, including Jordan’s Smokehouse & Seafood, Riverside Steak & Seafood, and the Saltwater Grill.
If you’re bringing children or are young at heart, be sure to visit Candy Edventure (with an “E”), a bright wonderland of treats for all ages. Parks surround central Swansboro, and wherever you are in Swansboro, you’re not far from Pirate’s Den Park, Ward Shore Park, or Riverview Park. Children can also pretend to be pirates at Pirate’s Den Park.
